Creativity Isn’t Canceled: Motion Source’s User-Generated Brand Video

By Michelle Maslanka • Producer

Inspired by major brands releasing ads comprised of employee-captured and supplied footage, we decided to create our own team-generated brand video. While we are no strangers to creating our own video content--we are a video production company, after all--this was the first time we would be creating a video separated from one another.

Stay Home, Watch Shows

By Michelle Maslanka • Producer

Our homes have become offices, kitchens have become cafeterias, and we are all adjusting to COVID-19 related changes. Routines have been adjusted, but there’s no denying we have been consuming more content than ever. With the extra time at home, we compiled the team’s recommendations on shows we’ve been binging. So take a look at our list, stay home, and enjoy some new shows!

Client Profile + BTS: Les Turner ALS Foundation

By Michelle Maslanka • Producer

A famous Fred Rogers quote goes, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” The Les Turner ALS Foundation, at its core and in all they do, are helpers. We have had the privilege of working with them for over 5 years, so we have seen that firsthand.

This latest project marked our fifth “Hope Through Caring” video, a video created for and premiered at their annual Hope Through Caring Gala fundraiser. This year’s project took a different path; one more focused on the Foundation as a whole, the brand, the values, and the people who make up this family.

What Does Motion Source Actually Do?

By Craig Bass • Creative Director

One of my primary goals for 2020 is to be more active on LinkedIn. In preparation for achievement of this goal, I recently overhauled my profile to provide connections--and potential connections--a better understanding of who I am, and what my professional mission is. I spent a great deal of time ruminating on what my profile’s headline should read, on how I could best summarize my purpose, and the purpose of Motion Source, in a single sentence.

Guest Post: Why the Customer is the Hero of Your Brand Story

By Edwin Davis • Creative Director - Video Production Brisbane

At our video production business in Brisbane, Australia, I was talking with a customer the other day about creating some new video marketing content for their business, and it reminded me of a trap for companies to avoid. For many businesses looking to get started in marketing, they are eager to create video content to get their name out there as quickly as possible. I get it: raising brand awareness about what products you create and what services your offer is important. And it’s important to differentiate yourself from the competition.

But here’s where businesses fall into the trap: thinking that they are the hero of their brand story.

'Tis The Season To Binge

By Craig Bass • Creative Director

The holiday season has become synonymous with bingeing. Traditionally, this begins with food, which, in the sluggishness it imparts, leads to hours upon hours of couch time. Sure, during that caloric coma you could make good on your plan to rewatch the entirety of Game of Thrones; but we are here to tell you there is another way! The Motion Source staff has come together to offer up a cornucopia of binge-worthy viewing delights that you may not be familiar with. From Victorian period dramas to sports docu-series, we’ve covered just about every major area of the menu. So slip on your sweatpants, reach for your remote, and tune in to these televised treats.

The Making of a Music Video: “Dime” by Chris Mar

By Michelle Maslanka • Producer

Collaborating with a new artist and working in a new genre proved a fun challenge for us. “Dime” (pronounced dee-may, meaning “tell me” in Spanish) was our first music video for a Reggaeton song and debut music video for artist Chris Mar. The excitement from both the artist and crew fueled the passion for the project and made the final outcome that much more rewarding for all involved.
